Where in the World is…Danielle Marie Bernadette Dy?

Danielle, MIIS Batch 2011, shares how MI has prepared her to accept all kinds of people, her work at GetCraft, and her fond memories of jamming at MIIS.

Year graduated from MIIS: 2011

Education: UP Diliman, 2016, BA Film

Recent Achievement/Recognition: Hit my 1 year mark in GetCraft Inc.

What are you currently doing? What are you busy with professionally? Are there personal advocacies or interests you are engaged in?

I work in GetCraft Inc, a premium creative network that helps creative professionals who are looking for projects. I’ve been busy trying keep the grind going, given the circumstances of quarantined, like working from home and trying to keep the sales up. Outside of work, my family and I spend a lot of time together doing what we can to help contribute to frontliners and their families, whether it be through food donations or helping craft materials they need.

How are you affected or coping with the pandemic?

We all know this is a difficult time for everyone, so it’s best to keep yourself busy by creating things to do each day. It’s also best to schedule some quiet time or meditation at the start or end of the day to help our anxieties ease down.

What can you say are some learnings, traits or values that you have learned in MIIS that have been useful to you in your school life to relate with people more effectively or succeed in your university?

In the work setting and even in college, MI has always prepared me to accept all kinds of people because everyone has an equal chance to succeed. I didn’t notice it at first, until someone asked me why I was used to talking to different kinds of people. I realized it was MI that taught me, along with the other 7 Habits of Highly Effective teens. (Which has helped me in different situations even until today)

What are your fondest memories of your time at MIIS?

I always loved jamming in the hallways during lunch time or writing songs for our different projects and year end.

What is a message you want to give to our MI Community in these challenging times?

I would like to share with the community that it’s okay to feel uneasy during this time and know that you are truly not alone. If you’re struggling to get up each day because motivation has decreased, it’s perfectly fine. Before we help out others, we need to help ourselves, too and I think that’s something people forget. After that, we can venture out into finding ways to help others in every way we can. That way, we can rise against all the negativity and challenging times of today, together. 🙂

Is there any cause or business you want to share with the community?

There are always places to help but sometimes we’re not really sure how. Check out https://www.facebook.com/helpfromhomeph/ to find out how you can donate or contribute to the frontliners and their families.

What’s next for you?

I plan to continue to try to stay positive at work, while still trying to help out wherever I can during this difficult time.
