Congratulations to our brilliant MIIS students for making waves on the global stage!
This year, our young changemakers joined over 2,170 students from 81 countries in the 2025 Trust for Sustainable Living (TSL) International Essay Competition, responding to the urgent and timely theme: “From Eco-Anxiety to Eco Action & Empowerment.” Through this competition, students shared powerful ideas, creative solutions, and personal reflections that showcased not only their intellect, but their deep care for the planet—and their capacity to lead.
We are proud to announce that Aryana was selected as a Finalist in the Secondary Category—a remarkable feat for her age. Her entry, Ecocycle, proposed an interactive website where people experiencing climate anxiety can share their struggles, connect with youth-led environmental groups, and engage with child-friendly activism campaigns. The site includes an events calendar and myth-busting resources to foster informed, empowered eco-action.
In addition, Anna Tinsley R. (Grade 6) received an Honorable Mention in the Primary Category for The Climate Corner: A Refuge for Anxious Minds, a platform offering therapeutic resources for youth facing climate-related anxiety and student-led support circles. Kiara F. (Grade 8) was also awarded an Honorable Mention in the Secondary Category for her essay Inertia and Indifference, which tackles both policy and psychological approaches to overcoming climate inaction.
We also celebrate the efforts of all our MI student participants whose thought-provoking entries reflect the values and global mindset we foster at MIIS:
We are thrilled to announce that three MIIS students have been invited to participate in the prestigious TSL 2025 International Student Debates: Eco-Anxiety to Eco-Action, happening July 1–2, 2025. Only the top students from each country were selected to represent their nations in this global dialogue—and MIIS is proud to be the school with the most student representatives for the Philippines!

These young leaders will join a select group of international students in presenting, defending, and exploring solutions on global environmental issues—continuing MIIS’ tradition of excellence, action, and advocacy on the world stage.
Since 2017, MIIS students have been recognized internationally through TSL—not only as essayists but also as delegates and awardees at international debates in the UK and Canada, earning accolades such as Best Individual Contribution and Secondary School TSL Ambassador.
At MIIS, we are proud to provide unique global opportunities like this, where our students gain real-world exposure, nurture their intelligences, and grow as confident, compassionate leaders. We believe in empowering youth to turn ideas into action—and our students continue to rise to that challenge.
