The Multiple Intelligence International School (MIIS) recently held its annual Literacy Day, an event that showcased the creativity, confidence, and communication skills of Upper School students through a series of competitions and performances centered on language, literature, and self-expression.
The celebration began with the Storybook Door Design Competition, where classrooms across the Upper School were transformed into artistic tributes to well-loved stories. Students collaborated to design visually striking doors that captured the essence of their chosen books.

In the Extemporaneous Speech and Spoken Poetry Finals, students demonstrated both eloquence and depth of thought. Their performances reflected the values of intellectual curiosity and emotional intelligence—qualities that MIIS continues to nurture among its learners.

One of the highlights of the event was the Speech Choir competition featuring Grades 9 and 10. Each class presented a distinct interpretation of Robert Frost’s classic poem “The Road Not Taken.” With creative staging and powerful delivery, the performances offered fresh insights into the poem’s enduring message about choice and individuality.

The MIIS Productions team from Grade 11 premiered teaser trailers for their upcoming projects, demonstrating their growing skill in media and storytelling.

The celebration also marked a milestone for MIIS Phronesis, the official Upper School newsletter team. The student journalists released their Quarter 1 Newsletter and sold copies of their literary folio, “Being & Becoming.” Both publications featured student-written articles, essays, and creative pieces that highlight the perspectives of young writers within the MIIS community.
