MI Alumni Gets Recognition at Boston College Grad

MI Pride shines once again as one of its alumni, Chiara Abaquin, graduated magna cum laude from the prestigious Boston College – Lynch School of Education on Monday, May 21, 2018 (EST).

Chiara was presented with the Patricia M. Coyle Award, “given to the graduating senior in Elementary Education who is a clear thinker in her field, able to translate the theories of child development and learning into the practice of teaching young children with enthusiasm and love; a person who is a thoughtful, reflective teacher; perceptive and sensitive to the needs of the children.”

After Boston College, Chiara has set her sights for the Harvard Graduate School Education, under the Master of Education program in Mind, Brain, and Education. Alongside the Coyle Award, she was granted the Matthew R. Copithorne Scholarship, presented to graduates “exhibiting the qualities of character, industry, and intelligence who plan to do graduate study at Harvard or MIT”.

If we are to remember one thing – it’s that we can always come back to MI. When the roads seem too tough or when we lose our way, let’s use our MI Compass.

Chiara Abaquin, Valedictory Address 2014

Chiara graduated at the top of the Multiple Intelligence International School Class of 2014, where she was an active member of the International Relations Organization, the fencing varsity team, and the MI Stage and public speaking club. She was also the Student Council Vice President, as well as the Team Captain for the Mathematics Teachers’ Association of the Philippines (MTAP) Math Challenge.

Aside from being the class valedictorian, she was also awarded the MI Loyalty Award, the Multiple Intelligence Magnificentia Award, the Multiple Intelligence Ad Excellentiam Award, the Logical-Mathematical Intelligence Award, the Intrapersonal Intelligence Award, the Tech Factors IT Awards, Excellence Awards in all of her subjects, and a recognition from the National Society of High School Scholars. During her time in MIIS, she also managed to win as the Best Delegate of the Press Corps at the 2014 Harvard Model Congress Asia in Hong Kong.

In her valedictory address, she exhorted her class to make MI proud. Today, she fulfills that promise. Our hats are off to you, Chiara!
