Congratulations to Raymond S. (11-Frenum) for being accepted into and successfully completing the prestigious Harvard Pre-College Program this summer!
The Harvard Pre-College Program is a highly selective, immersive academic experience that allows high school students from around the globe to live on campus, engage in rigorous coursework, and explore college life at one of the world’s top universities.
Raymond was part of the Digital Media on Economics, Politics, and Society class, taught by Harvard graduates, alongside 21 other peers from countries such as India, Russia, and China. Through intensive readings, discussions, and collaboration, Raymond learned:
His culminating project was a presentation on how the worldwide web influences politics—an experience that challenged him to think critically and present with confidence.
Reflecting on his journey, Raymond shared that his time at MIIS helped prepare him for the program:
Beyond academics, Raymond also embraced the independence of living abroad—learning how to commute, do laundry, budget his allowance, and adjust to American culture. His fondest memories include making new friends from around the world and sharing meals together while discovering new experiences.
A highlight of the trip was when Raymond and his siblings—Pepe (Grade 6A), Luke (Grade 4A), and Lara (Grade 1A)—had the privilege of meeting Dr. Howard Gardner, the founder of the Theory of Multiple Intelligences. They enjoyed a private conversation with him at Harvard, where they connected over MIIS, Raymond’s Harvard Pre-College experience, and topics such as politics, personal interests, and more.
We are proud of Raymond for representing the MIIS community and country with pride and for showing that MIIS students are prepared to take on world-class opportunities. 🌍✨
